Special Guest Lunch November 18, 2009

Wednesday, November 18th the children at Camp Creek Elementary invited a special guest for lunch.  Guests arrived at 11:15 and were greeted by staff and met by their “special friend” in the lunch line to enjoy turkey gravy over mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, a roll and chocolate cake.  The kitchen served an extra 72 adult lunches plus the usual lunches for children.    Quote from a child.  “The special guest lunch was really fun. I invited lots of people; my mom, my mom’s mom, my mom’s mom’s sister and her husband.  If  I could only invite ONE, I just WOULDN’T know who to invite!”

ho to invite!”

Student Art at Camp Creek

Camp Creek joined other students around the district to create banners celebrating Oregon’s Sesquicentennial Birthday.  (150 years)  Students were encouraged to create their original work of art with paint, pen, colored pencil, crayon, mixed media or collage materials in a 6″ X 10″ size.  Main images were to include one or more of the Oregon State Symbols.  (Beaver, Meadowlark, Oregon Grape, Chinook Salmon, Pear, Oregon Swallowtail, Hazelnut, Oregon Hairy Triton, or Douglas Fir)   They were to include the dates 1859-2009, Oregon’s 150th Birthday.  Six selections from Camp Creek  were chosen by staff to represent our school by anonymous voting.

Battle of the Books

Oregon Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program designed to inspire children to read many, many books.  A large number of Camp Creek students were involved, reading up to 16 different books.  Teams “battled” by answering questions about the books.  Camp Creek’s top team advanced to the Springfield District Battle and Regional Competition in Roseburg where they placed 5th.
